Keep Your Binoculars Handy: 2019 Festival of the Birds
The Presque Isle Audubon Society has once again planned their Festival of the Birds for this beautiful, blooming season

This little area of Pennsylvania is renowned for its bird-watching, with people "flocking" to Presque Isle every year, all year round, to see our winged friends.
The month of May — though we've only just begun to enjoy actual spring-like weather — is when songbird migration through our region tends to peak, and it is no coincidence that the Presque Isle Audubon Society has once again planned their Festival of the Birds for this beautiful, blooming season.
With only 150 spots available for reservation, Presque Isle Audubon and their collaborators, the PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR), will ensure that watchers have plenty of elbow room both on their field trips and at their workshops, which will take place in locations such as the Tom Ridge Environmental Center and the Rotary Pavilion.
Workshops and field trips include Birding for Beginners, Seated Yoga for Birders, and (new this year) kayaking bird trips, among many other opportunities. This year is shaping up to be an exciting one for the festival, as special guest and keynote speaker Yve Morrell will be on hand to present "800 is the new 700," detailing her big year's goals and results (the figures refer to the number of species she sighted in 2017). — Cara Suppa
