Following our notes taken during the County Council meeting held on March 10 at 6:00 p.m.

span style="font-weight: 400;">I attended the County Council meeting on March 10 at 6 p.m. The meeting began with two citations, honoring the 4H Club and retiring attorney George Joseph. During public comments, Constituent David Uhlig encouraged council to provide additional funding to those in the Erie community targeted by ICE. "Erie County can resist this cruelty and inhumanity not only by ending our partnership with ICE, but by funding additional legal support to organizations such as the Multicultural Community Resource Center," he said. The meeting addressed the following ordinances, resolutions, and appointments:

  • The first 2026 Drug and Alcohol Fund Budget supplemental appropriation of $156,060 and creation of new line items for additional PA Opioid Response funds passed unanimously.
  • An amendment of Resolution Number 10, 2026, 'Approval of the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Grant Application and the Cooperation Agreement Among the Erie County General Authority, Julia House, and the County of Erie' to Resolution 14, 2026 passed unanimously.
  • The 2026 Appointed Official Salary for the Director of Finance was moved to a second reading and passed unanimously.
  • A resolution for the approval of Tentative Lease Agreement with Troyer Growers Inc. and Erie County for lease of four parcels, also known as County Farmland, had its first reading and was not voted on.
  • A resolution authorizing the exoneration of outstanding property tax, penalties, interest, and fees for multiple deleted trailers and invalid parcels passed unanimously.
  • The possible reappointment of David J. Basnak to the Office of Children and Youth Advisory Board passed unanimously.
  • The possible reappointment of Mari R. Howells to the Erie County Library Advisory Board passed unanimously.
  • The possible appointment of Angela McNair, MS to the Erie County Community College Board of Trustees passed unanimously.
  • The possible waiver of the Administrative Code and appointment of Benjamin D. Wilson, Ed.D. to the Erie Regional Airport Authority passed unanimously.
  • The possible reappointment of Sarah L. Bennett to the Erie County Library Advisory Board passed unanimously.
  • The possible appointment of Lyn Twillie-Darby to the Erie Metropolitan Transit Authority representing District 5 passed unanimously.
